This day tour offers access to Kaieteur Falls, one of the world's most powerful single-drop waterfalls and a defining feature of Guyana's interior. The falls drop 226 meters in a single uninterrupted plunge into a sandstone gorge surrounded by primary rainforest. It is nearly five times the height of Niagara Falls.

The tour operates by aircraft from Georgetown's Ogle Airport, with a 50-minute flight each way over unbroken rainforest. You'll have approximately two hours on the ground at Kaieteur National Park.

What to expect

The tour departs from Ogle Airport in Georgetown. Check-in is at 08:00 AM or 11:00 AM on your tour day (subject to change depending on passenger load and aircraft availability). Tour operators include Trans Guyana Airways and Air Services.

The 50-minute flight crosses unbroken rainforest, the scale of Guyana's interior, no roads, no settlements, only forest and rivers. On clear days, you'll see the meandering Essequibo River and the vast forest canopy.

Landing at Kaieteur airstrip, a short walk brings you to the visitor area. Approximately two hours on the ground includes:

- Multiple viewpoints over the falls (no railings at most, exercise caution near the edges) - Walks through surrounding savannah and forest with park ranger or guide - Observation of golden rocket frogs in their bromeliad habitat (with guide assistance) - Possible white-chinned swift sightings near the falls - Photography time

Lunch is typically a packed meal eaten at the visitor area. Return flight departs Kaieteur approximately two hours after arrival, landing back at Ogle Airport in Georgetown.
