Visa Requirements

Visa requirements vary by nationality and destination. Each of the three Guianas has its own entry policies.

Suriname

Most visitors can apply for an online tourist entry fee (e-visa) before arrival. This has replaced the traditional visa for short stays. Apply at: https://suriname.vfsevisa.com/suriname/online/home/index.

Guyana

Many nationalities can enter visa-free for short stays. Requirements depend on your passport and can change. We provide guidance based on your nationality during booking.

French Guiana

As an overseas department of France, French Guiana applies its own visa rules. Important: holding a Schengen visa does not grant entry to French Guiana. EU citizens enter freely. Travelers from other countries must apply specifically for a French overseas department visa, even if they already hold a valid Schengen visa for mainland France or the Schengen area. Requirements depend on your nationality and we provide guidance during booking.

Vaccinations

Required: Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for entry to all three countries. Proof of vaccination must be carried at all border crossings, or, for travelers medically unable to receive the vaccine, a written exemption letter from a doctor.

Recommended: DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis), Hepatitis A for all travelers and Hepatitis B for stays longer than three months.

Malaria: Suriname was officially declared malaria-free by the World Health Organization in June 2025, making it the first country in the Amazon region to achieve this status. For French Guiana and Guyana, most tour routes don't require malaria prophylaxis, but consult your doctor based on your specific itinerary.
