Information you give us

The contact form is the only place on this website where you actively give us information. It asks for your name, email address, where you are travelling from, which packages or destinations interest you, approximate start and end dates, group size and your message.

We ask for these details so we can answer your enquiry properly. We do not pass them to advertisers and we do not add you to a mailing list.

Information collected automatically

A small amount of information is collected when you visit, without you entering anything.

We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to see which pages people visit and how quickly pages load. These are aggregate measurements. They do not use cookies and they do not build a profile of you.

The site also works out your approximate location from your IP address, at city level, so it can show relevant travel information such as estimated flight times to the region. This happens as the page loads. We do not store that location or link it to you.

Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and to prevent abuse of the site.

Cookies

This website does not use advertising cookies and does not use third party tracking cookies. Our analytics are cookieless.

How your enquiry reaches us

When you submit the contact form, your message is delivered by Resend, an email delivery service, and arrives in our inbox, which runs on Google Workspace. Both companies handle the message on our behalf so that it reaches us. They do not use it for their own purposes.

We reply from our own address and the conversation continues by ordinary email from that point.

The chat assistant

This website includes a chat assistant that answers questions about our tours, packages and the region. It is powered by Anthropic's Claude model and answers from the content published on this website.

When you send a message, that message is transmitted to Anthropic, which processes it on our behalf to generate the reply. We do not store chat conversations. Once you close the chat, the exchange is gone from our side.

Please do not type passport numbers, payment details or other sensitive personal information into the chat. Use email or the contact form for anything of that kind.

We limit how many messages one visitor can send in a short period, based on IP address, to prevent abuse of the service. If we ever begin storing conversations for review, we will update this page before we do.

Booking and payment

Bookings and payments are handled on WeTravel, a separate booking platform. When you follow a booking link you leave this website and continue on WeTravel, under their terms and their privacy policy. We do not process card payments on this website and we never see your card details.

How long we keep information

Enquiries sent through the contact form stay in our email inbox so we have a record of the conversation, in the same way any business keeps its correspondence. If you would like your enquiry deleted, email us and we will remove it.

Analytics measurements are aggregate and are not tied to you as an individual.

Your rights

You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@traveltheguianas.com and we will deal with your request.

If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another region with data protection legislation, those laws may give you further rights. We will honour any such request in the same way.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the date shown at the top of this page.
