What to Pack
Clothing, footwear, electronics and documents for jungle, river and city legs.
Clothing
Lightweight and light-colored pants, shorts, shirts and T-shirts. Long sleeves for jungle tours and overnight stays in the interior (mosquito protection). One set of slightly nicer clothes for dinners. A light raincoat or poncho (rain pants too if you're hiking). Sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots, plus sandals or flip-flops for casual wear and rapids. Swimsuit for swimming in rivers, pools or rapids.
Health & Protection
Sunscreen, sunglasses and insect repellent containing DEET (also available locally). All prescription medications and a basic first-aid kit (bandages, antiseptic, anti-diarrheal). A reusable water bottle for refilling at lodges and hotels.
Documents
Passport (signed, with at least six months validity and emergency contact info inside). Visa documents if not stamped in passport. Yellow fever vaccination certificate (mandatory for all three countries). Travel insurance details. Flight tickets and tour vouchers. Emergency phone numbers and email addresses for family. Print copies in case devices fail.
Immigration forms: Suriname and Guyana require online immigration forms for both arrival and departure. Complete these in advance:

- Guyana (arrival/departure): ed.gpf.gov.gy/#/
Essentials
Cash in small notes (USD or Euro, bills from 2013 or newer). Credit card (note: 2.5–5% surcharge applies in most locations). Phone with offline maps and translation apps. Headlamp or flashlight (essential for jungle camps). Power bank. Universal adapter.
Cultural Notes
When visiting religious sites such as mosques, temples, cathedrals or synagogues, cover arms and legs. Tattoos should be covered when visiting Maroon or Indigenous villages. Modest dress (shoulders and knees covered) when visiting communities. Covering tattoos applies to embassy visits as well.
Jungle and Rain
The Guianas are tropical and humid. Short, intense rain showers can happen at any time, even in the dry season. Pack a quick-dry waterproof bag for electronics. Quick-dry clothing dries faster than cotton. Long sleeves and pants protect against insects and trail vegetation.
