Getting Here

Direct Flights

Several direct flight connections serve the Guianas from North America, Europe, the Caribbean and South America:

• The Netherlands, USA and Canada (Miami, New York, Toronto) → Guyana and Suriname
• The Netherlands, Curaçao, Aruba, Trinidad, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Bogotá → Suriname
• France, Guadeloupe, Martinique → French Guiana
• Connecting options also available through Panama

Overland & River Crossings

Suriname connects to both neighboring countries by ferry: the Corantijn River crossing to Guyana and the Marowijne River crossing to French Guiana. Both crossings operate during daylight hours and are coordinated as part of our multi-country itineraries.

Getting Around

Each country has an international airport plus smaller airstrips serving interior destinations. In remote areas, traditional dugout canoes and pirogues remain the primary form of transport. We arrange all internal transportation as part of our packages.

Driving

Suriname and Guyana drive on the left side of the road. French Guiana drives on the right. This is relevant for travelers planning self-drive segments and for crossing borders by vehicle.

Rental car cross-border note: It is not generally permitted to drive a rental car across all three Guianas. A rental car can cross borders only with special written permission issued in the renter's name by the rental company, arranged in advance. Most travelers visiting all three countries use our overland transfer services rather than self-drive.
